In last week's video, we showed some evidence that the stock & bond markets have been forecasting that inflation may have peaked. So, with this week's 9.1% CPI report, was last week's video wrong?
No.
The CPI is a historical calculation. It shows what has already happened. The stock & bond markets are future discounting mechanisms; they are forecasting what participants believe is GOING to happen.
In today's video, we also briefly discuss the importance of the news out of India - that their Central Bank is now allowing imports and exports to be settled in the Indian Rupee INSTEAD of the U.S. Dollar. That is NOT good news for the U.S. dollar and is another sign that the U.S. dollar may lose its status as the world's reserve currency.
